Univ.-Prof. DDDDDDr. Wolfgang Mastnak

Wolfgang Mastnak, Austrian, is professor in Munich and in Shanghai and president of the Austrian Heart Association. Being full member of the New York Academy of Sciences and the European Academy of Sciences and Arts he specialises in neurosciences, music therapy, long-term cardiac rehabilitation, sports medicine, body-oriented therapies and the theory of science. Holding several doctoral degrees in music and arts-related therapies, mathematics, and medical and educational sciences, he has published approximately 300 papers and several books. He gives academic lectures and conducts research in Europe, Asia, Africa and America.

He was awarded one of the ‘2000 Outstanding Intellectuals of the 21st Century’ by the International Biographical Centre Cambridge and one of the “Great Minds of the 21st Century” by the American Biographical Institute. He is honorary fellow of the York St John University and received the Prize of Honour of the Czech Music Council/Council International of Music of UNESCO.

Being a pianist, Mastnak specialises in the music of the Viennese classicism, the 20th century, and contemporary music. He gives piano solo recitals, plays with orchestras and performs in various traditional, ethnological, and experimental ensembles. He gives piano master classes in Europe and Asia and also works as a composer and stage director.
