Assoc. Prof. Dr. Marcus D. Säemann

Studied Medicine at the University of Vienna and completed his thesis as well as a post-doctoral fellowship at the Institute of Immunology at the University of Vienna. Residency in Internal Medicine and Nephrology at the Medical University of Vienna. Leads a research group devoted to immunosuppression in organ transplantation, post-transplant diabetes mellitus and lipid disorders in chronic kidney disease. Study visit at the University of Minneapolis, Minnesota, USA and establishment of the pancreas-transplant program in Vienna. Marcus Säemann received more than 30 national and international Awards including the Theodor-Billroth Prize, Sanofi-Aventis Prize, Karl-Landsteiner Prize, Carl-Ludwig Preis of the German Society of Nephrology and the „Signaling Breakthrough of the Year“ award of the journal „Science“. He is member of various editorial boards and also reviewer of leading medical journals as well as author of more than 100 scientific articles.
